Vampirella of Drakulon
Issue 1 (January 1996)
Regular Cover - Mike Bair $2.95
Signed Regular Cover - Mike Bair (500 copies) $?
Limited Edition cover - Mike Bair (5,000 copies) $9.95
- Vampirella: ...Beware, Dreamers! [José Gonzalez, art; T. Casey Brennan, story] (from Warren Vampirella #17)
- Vampirella: The Testing!, Part One [Tom Sutton, art; Archie Goodwin, story] (from Warren Vampirella #50)
Another short series reprinting "classic" Vampirella stories from the Warren era.
Issue 2 (March 1996)
Regular Cover - Jordan Raskin $2.95
- Vampirella: Dracula still lives! [José Gonzalez, art; T. Casey Brennan, story] (from Warren Vampirella #18)
- Vampirella: The Testing!, Part Two [Tom Sutton, art; Archie Goodwin, story] (from Warren Vampirella #50)
It would seem that every issue has to contain a José Gonzalez story. As one of the top all-time Vampirella artists that's no bad thing.
Issue 3 (May 1996)
Regular Cover - Ray Lago $2.95
- Vampirella: Shadow of Dracula! [José Gonzalez, art; T. Casey Brennan, story] (from Warren Vampirella #19)
- Vampirella: When wakes the dead [Tom Sutton, art; Archie Goodwin, story] (from Warren Vampirella #20)
This issue came in a sealed poly bag and contained a Topps MasterVisions Promo Card. Of course, most readers opened the bag (and threw it away) and many would have kept the promo card. The promo card and this issue of Vampirella of Drakulon are not too difficult to get hold of. What's hard is to find them still in the sealed poly bag!
Issue 4 (July 1996)
Regular Cover - Mark Texeira $2.95
- Vampirella: Slitherers of the sand! [José Gonzalez, art; Steve Englehart, story] (from Warren Vampirella #21)
Though the stories are not new the cover artwork is, and it is worth collecting this series for some of the excellent covers (like the Texiera one here).
Issue 5 (September 1996)
Regular Cover - Mark Beachum $2.95
- Vampirella: Hell from on high! [José Gonzalez, art; Steve Englehart, story] (from Warren Vampirella #21)
These are just really good, "classic", early stories with the added bonus of colour from Bear Byte Graphics.
Issue 0 (November 1996)
Regular Cover - Jim Silke $2.95
- The origin of Vampirella [José Gonzalez, art; Budd Lewis, story] (from Warren Vampirella 1972 annual)
- The high-gloss Egyptian junk peddler [Esteban Maroto, art; Bill DuBay, story] (from Warren Vampirella #50)
This is the "Silver Anniversary Edition", and numbered Zero, despite it being published after Issue 5! I'm tempted to ask if the person who numbered this series couldn't count to six, but I'm sure it was just some smart marketing idea!
