Vampi was a re-imagining of Vampirella in the future with a younger and (arguably) more violent version of Vampirella. Manga comics were all the vogue at the time and Vampi is an excellent example of an occidental comic book being given a manga facelift.
Though I am not a fan of manga art and/or anime films in general issues ½ and 1-15 of Vampi just take your breath away. Sadly, issues 16-18 seemed to lose the authentic manga feel and were more like mainstream comic books.
I didn't collect Vampi when it was originally published which, in retrospect, may have been a mistake. However, this Omnibus provides some of the finest Vampi stories featuring the genius of Kevin Lau.
The Vampi series ran to issue 25 and was followed by Vampi Digital, Vampi Vicious, Vampi Vicious Circle, Vampi Vicious Rampage and Vampi vs Xin. Only Vampi vs Xin was, in my opinion, true manga.

This four issue story arc introduces the Karasu Shimai (Sisters of the crow), Japanese vampire triplets.
As far as villains go they are quite intriguing. Powerful, co-ordinated and fast they give vampirella and Sophia a real challenge.
