Allan Youl
Based in New Zealand, Allan Youl's artistic ability was spotted long before he went to school. Initially he drew action and hero comic characters, and he still enjoys the genre to this day.
Influenced and inspired by the work Frank Frazetta, Allan has created a diverse portfolio of artwork including legends of Rock Music (Black Sabbath in particular), Rugby players (featuring the internationally renowned All Blacks), film and T. V. stars and some truly excellent depictions of some of the key founding fathers of the martial arts.
Allan states "For many years I ignored my artistic ability and focused my energies on a corporate Marketing career. That was it until a couple of years ago. Now, my circumstances are different, I have been sharpening my pencil (skills) and I am going to see if I can make something of my 'gift' ..."
If the Vampirella art below is typical of his super hero(ine) work then "gift" is certainly the right word!
