Sergey Martyn
| Sergey Martyn is based in Russia, and his work started appearing on eBay a few years back. Immediately I was taken with his slightly different view of Vampirella, and the exquisite detail of his artwork. He is an artist specializing in neo-gothic and fantasy art, and his weapons of choice are graphite and coloured pencils - though there are a lot more paintings being produced now. Though he has done a few topless/nude versions of Vampirella, they are all done in good taste and with his usual level of quality. Over the years his work has improved exponentially, and eBay has provided him with a window onto the world which has reciprocated with work for his obvious talents. I emailed Sergey a couple of years ago, and was quite surprised and very pleased to have a detailed and chatty response. Based on that minimal contact with him I got the impression that he is a very nice guy, who loves his work. Recent contact with Sergey reinforced my opinion of him, and he has given me permission to use his "Rivers Of Blood 2" painting as part of this site's layout (the picture at the top left of every page!). I don't think Sergey is an "underrated" artist, more an "under used" artist. Perhaps it is because he is Russian, but whatever the reason he deserves to be up their with some of the greats. Harris Comics take note - this guy should do a Vampirella cover!
