Blank cover - Rene Cordova
When Marvel relaunched their Defenders series in December 2011 one of the six variant covers was a blank cover. In February 2012 Mexican artist Rene Cordova was commissioned to embellish the blank cover with a sketch of Vampirella.
Obviously a unique item, yet one which is strangely apt. Marvel's Defenders was always a series I enjoyed as it encompassed the slightly less known, less popular and misfit characters such as Doctor Strange and the Sub-Mariner. Vampirella would have been a perfect with the group.
I quite like Cordova's art. It is a bit quirky and reminds me of Bruce Timm and Steven Sanchez (see art section of this site).
So far as I can tell he has only done one other rendition of Vampirella, reproduced below
