Toy Cars
Here are a couple of rather well done Vampirella custom jobs. Obviously there are a few fans who combine their love for model cars and Vampirella into one custom build package.
Hot Wheels Dairy Van
Ebay description: Flamingraphics Custom Vampirella Dairy Delivery. Another Fine Flamingraphics DD that will look great in your collection. This Dairy was totally disassembled and stripped of paint, re shot with 1 primer coat, lightly sanded than colour shot, clear coated, [All Automotive paints] decals applied, both sides and roof, after which 2 more clear coats applied. Again colour sanded with 1500 grit paper to remove any dust or paint imperfections. Final 2 coats of clear for a glass finish left to dry for a few days, then a coat of turtle wax applied.
Graphics come from many sources and are slammed together to come up with the graphic shown. Flames for casts were hand drawn then scanned into computer and transformed into decals. These graphics are not any part of any Mattel promotion / or any other company promo.
Hot Wheels
Over the past few years there have been quite a few customised Hot Wheels toy cars listed on eBay. It seems that they are standard Hot Wheels toys with an assortment of Vampirella related decals added.
This is not to decry the idea and it's execution; the cars look nice and are obviously brand new... and they seem to sell well too!
There have been so many on eBay (just about every Hot Wheels variant has been given the treatment) that I am only going to show a representative sample.
Delivery Van
Not just a custom paint job on a model vehicle but the full deal with a sealed plastic bag and a custom made Vampirella label.
Though this is a fan produced custom item it looks like it came straight off the shelf of your local toy store.
It makes you wonder what possesses some people to go to such lengths…
Not that I'm complaining, just wondering.
Mondo Customz Van
Custom JADA 1:64 scale, Barbara Jensen art Vampirella VW drag bus.
Artist Barbara Jensen and Mondo Customz bring you another amazing collaboration project, dressed with 2 original artwork pieces from the art of Barbara Jensen and fully customised by Mondo Customz. This is the original prototype variation submitted for approval to the artist and she is super clean.
This item will also be delivered in a custom baggie and a serially numbered hologram will be affixed as pictured.
Honda Gold Wing Motorcycle
This is a Honda Gold Wing motorcycle with a picture of Vampirella painted on the petrol tank and on the front mudguard.
I have to admit that if I had the money, this is something I would do. But not with a Gold Wing.
I would have a custom Harley Davidson chopper built from the ground up with an overall Vampirella theme - everything from a golden bat logo stitched into the leather of the seat to bat wing fittings, foot pedals etc.
The big problem would be the paintwork. The overall colour theme would be red and gold, of course, but which images of Vampirella to use? There would have to be a José Gonzalez image - that goes without saying - but what other iconic images of Vampirella should I use? I am spoiled for choice.
Suggestions welcome.
1970s Dragster
eBay seller member_5523 sometimes has photos for sale of a variety of dragsters from the 1970s.
A couple of gems that I noticed were some photos of a dragster called "Vampirella".
Apart from the photos I have no other information about the vehicle itself, how it performed or the crew that owned it.
Maybe it was Jim Warren's daily ride to work? Stranger things have happened.
If you could supply some extra information please contact me.
Vampirella Chevrolet
Seen on eBay - 1/25 scale 1955 Chevvy Gasser. Seller's description below.
"I SANDED OFF ALL SIDE MOLDINGS AND ALL SEAMS, CUT OUT THE REAR FENDER WELL OPENINGS, PAINTED CANDY LIME GREEN AND ADDED METAL FOIL TO THE FRONT AND BACK WINDOW GLASS, THEN WILLS 70SS DECALS, 2 COATS CLEAR COAT, THE CHASSIS IS FLAT BLACK WITH CHROME AND SILVER SUSPENSION, THE FRONT STRAIGHT AXLE IS FROM A 33 WILLYS KIT, RESIN CRAGARS WITH STOCK TIRES UP FRONT AND SANDED RUBBER SLICKS ON THE REAR, THE INTERIOR IS GLOSS BLACK WITH A CHROME ROLL BAR AND TACH ON THE DASH, THE ENGINE IS THE SAME CANDY GREEN WITH AN ALUMINUM COIL AND DIST. WITH ORANGE WIRES, 2 CHROME CARBS ON TOP A RESIN TUNNEL RAM AND 2 ALUMINUM VELOCITY STACKS, RUBBER RADIATOR HOSE AND CHROME HEADERS, EVERYTHING NICELY DETAILED."
The detail on this model is fascinating, and the "Sponsored by Warren Publication" is a nice touch - it's just a shame that the person who spent so much time building this model could not spell the word "sponsored".
I do like the She Bites touch on the boot.
Nice one.
Custom Car magazine - February 1979
Featured in the February 1979 issue of Custom Car magazine was John Jemmett's "Heartbreaker". A heavily tweaked 1972 Mustang covered in Vampirella murals, not only did it grace the front cover but it was featured in the centrefold.
The copy of the magazine I got was really dirty (but very cheap!) so I have tried to clean up the scans in PhotoShop; they're not ideal but if you want to be picky buy your own copy!
For the technically minded... the interior was buttoned black velvet, complete with television and a cocktail cabinet (quite something for the UK in 1979). The mill was a 351cc Cleveland (Ford V8 engine) with Crane cam, high lifters,hi-rise manifold, 780 cfm Holley, dual point distributor and a pair of Cherry Bombs.
I have no idea what all that means, but I presume it means that the car goes like sh*t off a shovel!
Harley Davidson derby covers
Seen on eBay, D.L. Billiards are selling a range of genuine Harley Davidson Derby covers, custom laser engraved with the intricate detail of a "sexy Vampire Girl".
They state that "The art is very detailed. The artwork was commissioned for us by a very talented artist. This artwork has a raised feel to it and is permanently engraved into the derby cover, so it will not wear off. It looks fantastic during the light of day or under the glow of the street light at night. It will add that extra touch to your bike, separating it from any other of it's kind. The red / orange light in the photo is from the flash. This brand new derby cover will fit 2000 or newer Harley Davidson's. It does not include the gasket."
I have my doubts about the art being commissioned for them; more likely they bought a couple of Claudio Aboy's prints and copied them. The artwork is definitely by Aboy.
I think it's quite a good idea, and I'm sure that if I had a Harley Davidson I would have one of these to go on it.
I hope they will expand their range of "vampire girl" etchings as time passes.
