A trading card is a small card, usually made out of cardboard or thick paper, which usually contains an image of a certain person, place or thing (fictional or real) and a short description of the picture, along with other text (attacks, statistics, or trivia).

There is a wide variation of different types of cards which are traditionally associated with sports; e.g. baseball cards.

Cards dealing with other subjects are often considered a separate category from sports cards, known as non-sports trading cards. These often feature cartoons, comic book characters, television series and film stills.

Towards the end of the twentieth century, cards designed specifically for playing games were created and spawned a new genre of collecting - enabling generations of parents to become poor buying Pokemon cards for their children.

Trading Cards

There are a number of sets of trading cards with about 70-90 cards in each set, plus an assortment of promotional and special cards that didn't always come with the cards when sold in the shops.

There are also a few one-off trading cards that feature Vampirella but aren't in a set or are a part of a set devoted to something else (e.g. the artwork of a particular person).
