Vampirella/Witchblade Trilogy (TPB) - 2006

divider

Published in early 2006 this Trade Paperback is a compilation of the three Harris/Top Cow collaborations featuring Vampirella and Witchblade with a cover price of $12.95.

Nothing new for the avid collector, though the Interviews with Liam Sharp and Justin Gray are reprints from the 2004 Convention Edition so not available to the more general readership.

The Cover Gallery shows all the alternative covers produced for each issue - useful for the reader who may not be aware of all the special and limited editions.

The Artist Galley features Liam Sharp, Joyce Chin and Steve Pugh showing some of the original art for each issue. It is always interesting to see the pages in the pencils and inks stages, as you then appreciate some of the finer qualities of the artist(s).

Vampirell/ Witchblade: Trilogy

Cover - Mark Texiera

Brooklyn Bounce
Story - Brian Wood: Art - Steve Pugh

Caught in a snow storm in New York, Detective Sara Pezzini (Witchblade) chases after a youth being pursued by Vampirella. Typically Witchblade thinks Vampirella is the villain, but soon learns better when the youth tries to shoot her with her own gun. Vampirella and Witchblade track the youth to the lair of a werewolf who is holding a group of youths in thrall. A tentative friendship is made. (reprint of Vampirella/Witchblade - Brooklyn Bounce - 2003)

Union of the Damned
Story - Justin Gray: Art - Liam Sharp and Jimmy Pamiotti

Detective Sara Pezzini (Witchblade) gets involved when the Police capture a demon "child" with a bloody invitation for Vampirella. Vampirella and Witchblade are magically transported to Hell where Damien, the son of Satan, wants to marry Vampirella so he can have dominion over Drakulon. Outnumbered five hundred to one, part of the Witchblade jumps to Vampirella so they are both "armed" and very deadly in the melee that follows. In the aftermath of the slaughter Sara and Vampirella meet Satan who returns then to Earth. On their return to Earth Vampirella explains to Sara that marriage is about property not love.

Interestingly, this story introduces us to Vampirella's (younger) sister who is not named, merely shown in one panel held captive by Damien's minions. (reprint of Vampirella/Witchblade: Union of the Damned - 2004)

The Feast
Story - Justin Gray: Art - Joyce Chin

A slightly tongue-in-cheek story; talent scout Rod Sterling (where have I heard that name before?) is in reality an incubus turning his models into zombies with an addictive weight loss drug. When they are beyond use he sells them to vampires for food. Vampirella and Witchblade pose as models to track down the villain..
(reprint of Vampirella/Witchblade: The Feast - 2005)
