Joe JuskoJoe Jusko is a very well known comic and fantasy artist / painter, and certainly in my all time top ten Vampirella artists. Apart from his stunning work on many Vampirella covers and the groundbreaking Blood Lust mini series, he is widely known in the comics world for his covers and trading cards. No mean hand with pen and ink, Joe is justifiably renowned for his mastery of paint. He was the artist who produced the extremely popular first series (1992) of Marvel Masterpiece card-sets and the immensely detailed "Joe Jusko does Edgar Rice Boroughs" 1994 card-set, and his work is featured in the Conan the Barbarian and Vampirella trading card sets. His work has graced covers of Wizard magazine and his covers or illustrations span Vampirella, the Punisher, Conan, Shi, Nick Fury, Black Panther, Heavy Metal Magazine, Marvel Double shot, Crimson, 21 down, and many more. Joe's work is featured in books such as "The Art of Marvel" and "Joe Jusko’s Art of Edgar Rice Burroughs." He also created "Police and Firefighter Heroes of September 11". This lithograph features a painting of Captain America saluting the fallen heroes. Joe painted this with the special request that all the money go to the New York City Police and Fire Department Widow and Orphan's Fund. Joe is an ex-New York City Policemen so he has a special empathy with all those who were involved the 9/11 disaster. Joe is also responsible for some of the more recent iconic images of Vampirella, such as his cover for Vampirella:Sad Wings of Destiny. To say his vision of Vampirella is one of true beauty would be an understatement. With the attention to detail that has become his trademark he makes Vampirella more than just a comic book character, he makes her someone you can believe in. PS:- Thank you, Joe, for your kind words about Vampilore and permitting me to use your work. Joe's web site is at www.joejusko.com.
